Orogbo Orobo Bitter Kola

The bitter kola , orogbo or orobó ( Garcinia kola ) is a species of flowering plant native to Africa , belonging to the Clusiaceae or Guttiferae family. Orogbo or orobo for Sango, Shango or Chango, the favorite fruit of this Orisa. It is used in traditional medicine which attributes purgative , antiparasitic and antimicrobial properties to it . The seeds are used to treat bronchitis, throat infections, colic, colds and coughs. It is also used for liver disorders and as a stick to chew It is also used in the rituals of the Yoruba practice, especially in divinatory processes, in petitions to achieve prosperity and as ritual food for the Orisas.
